Odisha KALIA Scholarship 2024

As part of the extended “KALIA Scholarship” program, the Odisha government opened the online registration procedure for students from farming families on Tuesday. The deadline for student enrollment is January 31. Meanwhile, the government modified the program’s guidelines and is now giving scholarships to students enrolling in professional and technical programs at private universities in the state as well as outside of it.
The government is committed to assisting youth in professional and technical schools to enhance the prospects for the families of farmers. Students enrolled in professional and technical programs at ITIs in government or private institutions with an AISHE (All India Survey on Higher Education) code, as well as in elite universities both inside and outside of states, such as the IITs, NITs, AIIMS, IIMs, ICAR, IARI, IISER, NISER, IVRI, CIFE, and NDRI, among others, will be eligible for scholarships under the revised guidelines, which were made public on Monday.
It used to be restricted to children of farmers who were enrolled in state government schools. The maximum duration of the scholarship for postgraduate courses is two years, and for PhD courses, it is four years. An official notification states that Ph.D. programs can only be associated with authorized post-graduate courses offered by state government universities.

Note: It should be mentioned that this program is only available to students who are enrolled in government-run educational institutions. If necessary, the government may approve modifications to the course roster.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be the offspring of each eligible Kalia Yojana beneficiary who receives support for cultivators’ land and livelihoods from household members engaged in landless agriculture.
- The candidate must be a merit-admitted student at a government or private institution that has an AISHE Code.
- This award is not available to those who self-finance or participate in cost-sharing.
- The student cannot receive funding from any other scholarships.
- The recipients of the scholarship will only be able to use it for one professional course.
- It will not be possible for students to get funding for a second professional course.
- Students from non-public universities in the state are not eligible to apply for this award.

Reward Details
- The students will get the annual tuition payments, time costs, hostel expenses, and additional fees.

- Undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses offered by government institutes will incur a monthly hostel/mess fee of INR 1,200 per student.
- For ten months, diploma polytechnic ITI students would receive INR 1000 each month.
Selection Process
