OBC Scholarships are awarded to students/professionals from the OBC category with financial constraints to help them pursue a quality education. So The government has disbursed OBC scholarships worth about INR 850 crores for the welfare of the economically weaker sections of the country and lakhs of students were able to avail these scholarships.
ओबीसी छात्रवृत्ति ओबीसी श्रेणी के छात्रों / पेशेवरों को वित्तीय बाधाओं के साथ प्रदान की जाती है ताकि उन्हें गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा प्राप्त करने में मदद मिल सके। इसलिए सरकार ने देश के आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर वर्गों के कल्याण के लिए लगभग 850 करोड़ रुपये की ओबीसी छात्रवृत्ति का वितरण किया है और लाखों छात्र इन छात्रवृत्ति का लाभ उठाने में सक्षम थे।
It is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India to financially aid OBC students and enable them to pursue higher education leading to degrees such as M.Phil; and Ph.D. And The government provides 300 scholarships for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and the scheme covers all universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). So The JRF students can avail themselves of the fellowship for 2 years and if the research work is progressive then the students can continue as SRF for another 3 years. The scheme is also applicable to PwD students who belong to the OBC category (they get 3% reservation out of 300 slots). So The selected students also receive allowances such as HRA, medical, and leave apart from the scholarship stipend.

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the OBC students studying at the post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. So The rates under different Post-Matric Courses range between Rs. 750 per month and Rs. 260 per month for hostellers.

The scholarship award will be provided till the completion of the course, students must maintain good conduct and full attendance. The scholarship award may be renewed if the Group-A course students fail in the examination for the 1st time.
If he fails for the second time in any class the scholar shall carry their own expenses until they promote to the next class. The scholarship will be renewed every year on the basis of good conduct and promotion to the next class.

This scheme is for selected OBC students or professionals who wish to pursue a master’s or Ph.D. in a foreign university. So The fields of study eligible under this scheme are Engineering, Management, Agricultural Science, and Medicine. 30% of the scholarships are allotted to female applicants and 25 scholarships are provided per subject per year. The Ph.D. So candidates are offered a fellowship for 4 years and the master’s candidates are offered a fellowship for 3 years. So The scholars also get other allowances apart from the scholarship prize such as incidence journey allowance; visa fees, poll tax, medical insurance, airfare, local travel allowance, and other benefits.

So The aim of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students studying in the post-matric or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. This is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme implemented through State Government and Union territories. Therefore The scholars are paid non-refundable fees (for tuition, games, union, library, etc), charges for study tours, and thesis typing. So The OBC candidates belonging to one state but pursuing the course in another state are awarded a scholarship by competing authorities in that state.
And The government has spent about INR 720 crores through this scholarship and lakhs of students have been awarded it. And The following table provides information on the different groups of courses eligible for the scholarship and maintenance allowance for day scholars and hostellers individually.

The OBC students are awarded these scholarships on the basis of merit and means. So Mainly, there are 6 types of OBC scholarships awarded to students: National Fellowship for OBC, Central Sector Scheme of National Overseas; ONGC Scholarships, Pre-matric & Post-matric OBC scholarships, and Merit Scholarships for OBC, Delhi.
Post-Matric Scholarship to the OBC Students

The term of the commission has been extended to 31 May 2019. Its report stated that prime beneficiaries of 97% OBC reservation include Yadav, Kurmi; Jat (Jats of Rajasthan except those of Bharatpur and Dholpur district are in the Central OBC list), Saini, Thevar, Ezhava, and Vokkaliga castes.
The scholarship award a stipend of up to INR 500 per month to the OBC students pursuing pre-matric in government schools or from any recognized private schools. And The family income of the candidate applying for this Pre Matric Scholarship for OBC should not be more than INR 2,50,000 per annum.
