Odisha Scholarship 2023-24: Odisha Scholarship is a scholarship available exclusively to students with Odisha domicile. Considering the rapid changes in the education sector, the Government of Odisha has left no stone unturned in providing financial assistance to the interested students in the form of Odisha Scholarships.

The Odisha government and numerous other establishments have made concerted efforts to improve the state’s educational standing. Numerous scholarships are available to students who reside in Odisha.

Implementation Of Odisha Scholarship

  • The government of Odisha has launched the Odisha scholarship programme for state candidates belonging to scheduled castes and tribes.
  • Under this programme, students will receive scholarships to further their education.
  • Applicants interested in participating in this scheme may do so by submitting an application via the official website.
  • We also accept applications that are submitted offline to the department office.
  • After they are submitted, the applications will be screened by the approval committee.
  • After that, these applications will be forwarded for additional verification.
  • The applications will be forwarded to the disbursal committee after appropriate verification.
  • The disbursement committee will deposit the scholarship funds into the recipient’s bank account.

Objective: Odisha Scholarship

Odisha Scholarship 2023-24: A good career opportunity is necessary for a bright future, and proper knowledge and high-quality education are prerequisites for a good career opportunity. A lack of funding prevents many students in the state from continuing their education. The government of Odisha’s primary goal is to assist underprivileged students and motivate them to continue their education.

There are many scholarships available for students living in Odisha. Which are as follows:-

Junior Merit Scholarship (Medhabruti)

Provider: Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha
Eligibility criteria:

  • Higher Secondary Education must have been completed by the student.
  • The student’s family’s total annual income from all sources cannot be more than INR 6 Lakh.
  • Only in the year of enrollment (the first year of the course) may the student apply for the medhabruti.
  • The pupil needs to have received at least 60% of the possible points in their HSC exam.
  • The student must enrol in regular +2 courses following the 10+2 pattern and have their institution recognised by the BSE, Odisha, CBSE, ICSE, or New Delhi Board equivalent boards.
  • The CBSE will now employ a grading system of 95% (A1), 85% (A2), 75% (B1), and 65% (B2).

Details of Award: For two years, each selected student will receive INR 3,000 annually.

Period of application: October through December

Senior Merit Scholarship (Medhabruti)

Provider: Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha
Eligibility criteria:

  • The students have to be enrolled in three-year graduate programmes at any recognised school or university.
  • The student’s family’s total annual income from all sources cannot be more than INR 6 Lakh.
  • Only in the year of enrollment (the first year of the course) may the student apply for the medhabruti.
  • The pupil needs to have received a minimum of 60% in their twelfth grade.
  • The student must have passed the class 12th or equivalent exam from an institution approved by the ICSE or CBSE, or the +2 CHSE, Odisha.
  • The candidate must be registered at any authorised college, institute, or university in a general degree programme or +3 courses.

Details of Award: For two years, each selected student will receive INR 3,000 annually. Period of application: Between October and December

Post Graduate Merit Scholarship (Medhabruti)

Provider: Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha
Eligibility criteria:

  • The student’s family’s total annual income from all sources cannot be more than INR 6 Lakh.
  • Only in the year of enrollment (the first year of the course) may the student apply for the medhabruti.
  • The student ought to be attending any accredited college or university to pursue a post-graduate degree.
  • The candidates must have earned a minimum of 60% in their graduate programme and a +3 degree.

Details of Award: For two years, each selected student will receive INR 10,000 annually.
Period of application:
From October through December

Technical and Professional Merit (Medhabruti)

Provider: Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha
Eligibility criteria:

  • The student’s family’s total annual income from all sources cannot be more than INR 6 Lakh.
  • Only in the year of enrollment (the first year of the course) may the student apply for the medhabruti.
  • The student must be pursuing an integrated course and a regular technical degree approved by government regulatory bodies such as AICTE, MCI, DCI, etc., or a professional undergraduate degree.
  • The candidate must have passed the most recent qualifying exams from any recognised institution with a +3 degree (for MBA, MCA, MFC, or MSW) and at least 60% of the possible points.

Details of Award: INR 10,000 per annum to each selected student as per the course duration. Period of application: From October through December

PRERANA-Post-Matric Scholarship for SC

Provider: Government of Odisha’s ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department
Eligibility criteria:

  • The family income of the applicants cannot be more than INR 2.5 lakh per year.
  • The candidate must live in Odisha permanently.
  • To continue their post-matriculation studies, the candidate needs to be enrolled in any of the courses listed under Groups I, II, III, and IV.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in a government-funded or privately acknowledged institution.
  • The candidate must have passed the prior exam with at least 50% of the possible points.

Details of Award: Actual course and tuition fees, admission costs, library fees, sports fees, and a maintenance allowance of up to INR 1200 for hostellers and up to INR 550 for day scholars are all included. Period of application: From August through October

PRERANA-Post-Matric Scholarship for ST

Provider: Department of Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, ST & SC Development, Government of Odisha
Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s family income cannot exceed INR 1 lakh per year.
  • The candidate must have passed the prior exam with at least 50% of the possible points.
  • The candidate must live in Odisha permanently.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in any of the courses listed under Groups I, II, III, and IV in order to continue their post-matriculation studies.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in a university, either public or private.

Details of Award: Actual course and tuition fees, admission costs, library fees, sports fees, and a maintenance allowance of up to INR 1200 for hostellers and up to INR 550 for day scholars are all included.

Period of application: From August through October

PRERANA: OBC/SEBC Post-Matric Scholarship

Provider: Government of Odisha’s ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department
Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s family income cannot exceed INR 1 lakh per year.
  • The candidate must have passed the prior exam with at least 50% of the possible points.
  • The candidate must live in Odisha permanently.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in any of the courses listed under Groups I, II, III, and IV in order to continue their post-matriculation studies.
  • The candidate needs to be enrolled in either a public or private university.

Details of Award: In addition to the actual tuition/course fee, there are other fees for admission, the library, sports, and day scholars as well as up to INR 350 and INR 750 in maintenance allowance, respectively.

Period of application: From August through October

PRERANA: EBC Post-Matric Scholarship

Provider: Government of Odisha’s ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department

Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s family’s total yearly income from all sources cannot be more than INR one lakh.
  • The candidate may only be pursuing higher education from government institutions.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in any of the programmes listed in Groups I, II, III, and IV.
  • The EBC of the General category is the only group eligible for this scholarship programme.

Details of Award: In addition to the actual tuition/course fee, there are other fees for admission, the library, sports, and day scholars as well as up to INR 350 and INR 750 in maintenance allowance, respectively.

Period of application: From August through October

Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Provider: Government of Odisha, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities


Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s family income must not exceed INR 2.4 lakh per year.
  • At least 40% of the applicant’s disability should be present.
  • The candidate must be an Odisha state resident.
  • The candidate must be five years old or older.
  • The applicant is not eligible to receive any additional pensions from the state government, the union government, or any other government-funded organisation.
  • The candidate ought to be enrolled in pre-matriculated courses.

Details of Award:

  • For day scholars and hostellers, the scholarship rate for the first ten months of an academic year is INR 350 and 600, respectively.
  • Monthly reader allowances for blind students, monthly escort allowances for severely disabled students (80% or above), and monthly coaching allowances for mentally retarded and sick students are all included in the scholarship. In the event that the student is not a hosteller, it also includes a monthly transportation allowance.

Period of application: Between September and November

Post-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

  • The applicant’s family income must not exceed INR 2.4 lakh per year.
  • At least 40% of the applicant’s disability should be present.
  • The candidate must be an Odisha state resident.
  • The candidate must be five years old or older.
  • The applicant is not eligible to receive any additional pensions from the state government, the union government, or any other government-funded organisation.
  • The candidate ought to be enrolled in post-matriculation coursework.

Details of Award: The scholars selected for this programme receive reimbursement for required non-refundable fees, an additional allowance based on their level of disability, and maintenance benefits.

The Prof. Ghanshyam Dash Scholarship for Higher Education

Provider: Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited, Odisha (IMFA)
Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s family income must not exceed INR 2 lakh per year.
  • The candidate ought to be enrolled in a liberal arts, engineering, or medical programme.
  • The candidate must be an Odisha state resident.
  • If chosen, the candidate should not have accepted or been offered any other financial assistance at the time of application.
  • Note: Members of the SC/ST community and applicants with physical disabilities will be given preference.

Details of Award: For the whole of a four-year course, up to an annual maximum of INR one lakh, the chosen scholars are exempt from 90% of the tuition and other costs.

Period of application: From September to November

Scholarship under Central Sector Scheme to eligible students

Provider: Government of India’s Council of Higher Secondary Education
Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must have been a regular student who passed the annual Higher Secondary Examination given by the CHSE, Odisha.
  • The candidate must pursue higher education as a regular student at any college, institution, or university.
  • The student’s family’s total yearly income cannot be more than INR 6 lakh.


Award Details:

  • For the first three years of college and university courses, the scholarship rate for students at the graduation level is INR 10,000 per year.
  • Postgraduate scholarships are given out at a rate of INR 20,000 per year.
  • In their fourth and fifth years of study, students taking integrated courses or professional degrees are eligible to receive INR 20,000 annually.

Period of application: From August until October

Vidyadhan Scholarship Program (Odisha) (1st and 2nd year)

Provider: Sarojini Damodaran Foundation
Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s family income must not exceed INR 2 lakh per year.
  • The candidate needs to have passed the BSE exam or the tenth grade.
  • The candidates must have received at least 80% of the possible points in their BSE or 10th grade exam.

Award Details: The selected students will receive annual scholarships worth up to 10,000 Indian rupees.

Period of application:From May through July

Vyasa Kabi Fakir Mohan Senapati Scholarship

Provider: Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha
Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate needs to be an Odisha state resident.
  • The candidate must be qualified, having passed the Higher Secondary Examination or having earned a B.A. (Arts) with honours or a major in Odia.
  • The candidates must have received a minimum of 90% in the Higher Secondary Examination’s Odia paper.
  • The candidates’ degree examination scores had to be at least 80%.

Award Details: The chosen students will get a one-time scholarship payment of INR 20,000.

Period of application: Between the months of January and February

  • Select the Apply Scholarship option, then select the scholarship you would like to apply for.
  • Click the Apply button to bring up the login window.
  • If you have already registered on the portal, please provide your login credentials.
  • Click the register here option if you haven’t already.
  • After reading the content that displays on the screen, tick the box and click the “I agree” button.
  • Enter the number from your Aadhaar card, select Verify, and finish the process.
  • Enter now the name, DOB, gender, phone number, and additional information that the screen requests.
  • After selecting the “Register” button, complete the online application that displays.
  • Upload scanned copies of the required documents, then preview the application.
  • Fill out the application and submit it. You should retain a copy of the completed form for your records.
