PM Scholarship 2024:- For dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) and State Police Personnel, the PM Scholarship, also known as the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), aims to support higher professional and technical courses. Launched in 2006–07, the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, oversees this program. Number of Scholarships Available/Amount
Those who apply for this scholarship will get the following number of awards:
- Each academic year, a total of 5500 ex-servicemen’s wards and widows are chosen to receive scholarships.
- Boys and girls receive 2750 scholarships apiece, which is an equal distribution.
- Scholarships are awarded for one to five years, depending on how long the courses are accepted for and approved by the relevant regulatory organizations.
- The chosen students receive the award amount each year.

Eligibility Criteria: PM Scholarship 2024
The candidate must fulfill the qualifying requirements listed below to be considered for this scholarship program:
- The only students who can apply for PMSS are those who were admitted in their first year, except Lateral Entry and Integrated Course.
- The minimum educational qualification (MEQ), which is equivalent to a 10+2 diploma or graduation, is 60% or above for students.
- Students enrolled in second or later years are not eligible, except for integrated courses, which consist of two parts: an academic first component and a professional integrated course.
- Students who are dependents of former Coast Guard members and veterans, or widows of these individuals.
- Citizens’ and paramilitary personnel’s wards are not eligible.
Priority for Grant of Scholarship
When applying for this coveted award, applicants from the following social groups will be given preference:
- Wards and Widows of ESM and former Coast Guard personnel killed in action fall under Category 1.
- Categorization 2: ESM wards and former Coast Guard members who were disabled in combat and were released from service due to a handicap related to their military or Coast Guard service.
- Category 3: Guardians and Spouses of ESM/Former Coast Guard Members who passed away while serving due to circumstances related to their employment with the Coast Guard or the Military.
- Wards of ESM / Former Coast Guard personnel who are disabled while on duty due to their military or Coast Guard service-related disabilities fall under Category 4.
- Category 5: ESM wards and widows, as well as former Coast Guard members who have been awarded valor.
- Category 6 Wards / ESM Widows / Former Coast Guard Officers (PBOR Only).

Eligible Courses
The following courses qualify for the scholarship that the relevant agencies are offering:
- First Professional Degree Programmes, approved by the appropriate Government Regulatory Bodies, including the Medical Council of India, UGC, and the All India Council for Technical Education, include BE, B Tech, BDS, MBBS, B Ed, BBA, BCA, and B Pharma.
- All master’s degree programs—aside from MBA and MCA programs—are not eligible for PMSS.
- This program is not available to students who are studying overseas. PMSS does not permit any distance learning courses. For a single course only, PMSS is available.
Documents Required
To apply for this scholarship, you must submit the following documents:
- For New Applicant: Service Certificate for Category IV provided by the relevant offices of the serving personnel.
- A copy of the Category I, II, and III PPO/Discharge Certificate/Book.
- Applicants must upload a properly documented scanned copy of their MEQ mark sheet or grade card, which may be a 10+2/Diploma or graduation, depending on the situation.
Renewal Application for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF
You must reapply for your scholarship by following the detailed instructions provided below:-
- Through the National Scholarship Portal, the applicant can renew their scholarship by utilizing the application ID they created during registration. The candidate may upload documents, such as a certificate from the college or institute specifying the percentage
Selection Criteria for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF
The following order represents the students’ preferences:
- Category 1: Survivors of deceased RPF/RPSF members who were in harness
- 2nd Category- Wards/Widows of ex-RPF/RPSF servicemen who died while in service
- Category 3- Wards of ex-RPF/RPSF (retired) personnel
- 4 Category: RPF/RPSF personnel’s service wards
PM Scholarship Scheme 2024 Application Process
Go to the National Scholarship Portal or NSP. The 12th graders can apply for the PM Scholarship 2024. After selecting “Register Now,” you will receive an application ID and password on the registered phone number. Next, use that application ID and password to in to NSP.
Step By Step
- Go to https://scholarships.gov.in/, the NSP’s official website.
- A “New Registration” link will appear. Click it.
- Click “Continue” to move forward after carefully reading the application guidelines.
- After entering all necessary information, click “Register.”
- After registering, your mobile number will be used to produce your user ID and password.
Login with User ID and Password
- Enter your registered mobile number, application ID, and password to access the portal.
- Your registered mobile number will receive an OTP to complete the login process.
- Change the password and confirm the OTP.
- Complete the scholarship application after logging in (PM Scholarship login).
- Upload each supporting document’s scanned copy.
- Lastly, apply.
PM Scholarship 2024 Renewal
Please inform us about the process for candidates wishing to extend their scholarship. The first installment of the PM scholarship will be awarded to the chosen students as soon as the merit list is released; however, further payments will only be made if the scholars’ petition for scholarship renewal after each academic year. The candidate may apply online for the renewal in the same manner as for a new application. However, to apply for the renewal application, a candidate must meet several requirements, which include:
- The candidate must receive at least 50% of the possible points in each semester or academic year.
- In a single attempt, candidates must pass every course in each year or semester.
