Bikash Bhavan Scholarship 2024: Money should never be a barrier to learning in a society where education is essential for determining one’s future. In light of this, the West Bengal government established the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme (SVMCM), commonly known as the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship. With the help of this scholarship programme, students who are struggling financially will be able to further their education.
This state government scholarship is available only to West Bengali residents enrolled in classes XI through postdoctoral leave. Also, the Bikash Bhavan scholarship programme is open to Kanyashree recipients (K-2). Students who are interested can apply by visiting the official portal.
Bikash Bhavan Scholarship 2024: Eligibility Criteria
Those students in West Bengal who are economically deprived are given the Vikas Bhawan Scholarship. The general and specific eligibility requirements for scholarship applications, along with the eligible courses under each category, are given below:
General Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a resident of the state of West Bengal.
- At a college or institution in West Bengal, they ought to be pursuing education at the post-madhyamik level or higher, such as class 11 or class 12, undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctorate degrees.
- The candidate ought to have graduated from a state university, a madrasah, the council of secondary or higher secondary education, or a state board.
- The applicant’s total annual family income cannot be more than INR 2,50,000.

The candidate must have earned at least a 55% on the most recent qualifying exam and studied engineering honours courses at the graduation level. |
Kanyashree Applicant (K-3) | The candidate must have a current, authorised K-2 ID. The applicant ought to be enrolled in a postgraduate programme in commerce, science, or the arts at this time. The candidate must have earned a minimum of 45% of the possible points to graduate from high school. |

Bikash Bhavan Scholarship 2024: Application Process
Registration:
- Applicants must go to svmcm.wbhed.gov.in, the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship official website.
- Next, select the “Register” tab located in the upper right corner of the homepage.
- To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must complete the online registration form.
- A fifteen-character ID will be generated upon successful registration completion; this ID must be used to access the portal.
- The registration slip is available for candidates to download for their records.
Note:
- Applicants for the Kanyashree programme must complete the authentication form with all necessary information, including their ID, name, parents’ names, and birthdate. Upon successful authentication, candidates can proceed by completing the registration form.
- An applicant can retrieve their login credentials by clicking the ‘Forgot Applicant ID/Password’ tab on the application login page if they have misplaced or forgotten them.
Login to Portal
- Following a successful registration, candidates must use their application ID, password, and captcha to access the scholarship portal.
- Applicants must fill out the Bikash Bhavan scholarship registration form completely.
- In the specified size and format, they must also upload a scanned copy of the picture and signature.
Note:
- Both the signature and the picture must be in JPG or JPEG format.
- The size of the JPG signature and image should not be less than 20 KB or more than 50 KB.
- The size of the JPEG image and signature should not be less than 10 KB nor more than 20 KB.
Uploading Required Documents
- Candidates must upload all required documents after submitting the application form.
- Each document must be uploaded in PDF format, and the total size of the documents cannot be more than 400 KB.
Application Submission
- The candidates can finish the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship registration process by clicking the “Submit Application” button after uploading all required documents.
- For future use, applicants can download the verification certificate.
- The head of the relevant institution must sign a copy of the verification certificate, which applicants must obtain and upload to the scholarship portal.
Bikash Bhavan Scholarship Documents Required

Note:
The institution verification form is obtained online on the scholarship portal after the submission of the scholarship application form. The applicant must have the institution’s head authenticate the institution verification form before uploading it to the portal.
Documents to be submitted by the Renewal Candidates
- For the second-year scholarship renewal, undergraduate applicants must submit their mark sheets from the first and second semesters.
- For the third-year scholarship renewal, undergraduate applicants must submit their mark sheets from the third and fourth semesters.
- For the renewal of the scholarship in the second year, postgraduate applicants must submit their first and second semester mark sheets.
Bikash Bhavan Scholarship Renewal Process
- Candidates for renewal should go to the online application portal for the Bikash Bhavan scholarship.
- On the homepage, he or she needs to select the “Renewal Application” button.
- Using the registered login ID and password, the candidate should access the portal.
- The student must fill out the Bikash Bhavan scholarship renewal form completely and upload all necessary supporting documentation.
