Prathibha Scholarship: Pratibha Scholarship Program is an initiative of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE). Then the objective of the program is to motivate bright students to pursue higher studies in basic and natural sciences by providing scholarships. Opportunities are also provided to the meritorious scholars to attend science orientation programs in prestigious research laboratories in the State to acquaint themselves with the cutting-edge areas of research and interact with the pioneers in science. प्रतिभा छात्रवृत्ति कार्यक्रम केरल राज्य विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी और पर्यावरण परिषद (केएससीएसटीई) की एक पहल है। कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान करके उज्ज्वल छात्रों को बुनियादी और प्राकृतिक विज्ञान में उच्च अध्ययन करने के लिए प्रेरित करना है। मेधावी विद्वानों को राज्य में प्रतिष्ठित अनुसंधान प्रयोगशालाओं में विज्ञान उन्मुखीकरण कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेने के अवसर भी प्रदान किए जाते हैं ताकि वे खुद को अनुसंधान के अत्याधुनिक क्षेत्रों से परिचित करा सकें और विज्ञान में अग्रणी लोगों के साथ बातचीत कर सकें। प्रतिभा छात्रवृत्ति 2012-13 से KSCSTE के महिला वैज्ञानिक प्रभाग द्वारा कार्यान्वित की जाती है। प्रभाग का प्राथमिक जनादेश फेलोशिप, छात्रवृत्ति, जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों और कार्यशालाओं के माध्यम से विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी में महिलाओं और छात्रों को बढ़ावा देना है।

Eligibility

• Applicant must be of Kerala origin.
• Then the applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination from Kerala.
• Also, the applicant must have passed Higher Secondary Board Examination with a minimum of 90% marks or equivalent grade for all subjects and a minimum of 90% marks or equivalent grade for all science subjects. (For SC/ ST reservation category, the eligibility is prescribed as a minimum. 80% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for all subjects and a minimum of 80% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for all science subjects).
• Then the applicant must have secured admission to the 3-year B.Sc. / 5-year Integrated M.Sc. / 5-year integrated BS-MS course (23 subjects listed in ‘Guidelines’) in Basic or Natural Sciences in any Institute or University in India

Objectives

The primary objective of starting the Pratibha Scholarship is to promote the adoption of science education among the students so that students can be motivated for science stream or subjects in the current classes without thinking about the high paying fee structure. On an annual basis, the students will be able to get the scholarship amount. Another objective of starting the Pratibha Scholarship is to provide scholarships to students studying in the science and technology field or stream so that they can be able to complete their studies without suffering from financial debt.

उद्देश्य

• 100 Scholarships are granted every year.
• 10% of the scholarships are reserved for SC/ ST students.

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Application Process

Candidates have to apply online for the scholarship.

• Candidates must visit the official KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship website.
• Click on ‘Applications are invited for Pratibha Scholarship’.
• Candidates must read the instructions carefully before filling out the application form.
• Candidates are then required to click on the link ‘Registration’ and proceed with ‘New Registration’.
• All candidates have to fill out the application form and get the datasheet prepared by the head of the institute to where they have taken admitted.
• Then the datasheet along with important documents should be sent to the Director, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Shastra Bhavan, Pattam P.O. Thiruvananthapuram – 695 004 should be mailed.

Benefits of Pratibha Scholarship 2023

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:-

• Students will be motivated to explore their careers in the science and technology stream.
• Also, Pratibha Scholarship will provide financial assistance to students in pursuing their studies.
• Equal opportunities will be given to girls by reserving 50% of seats for them.
• 10% seat reservation will be given to students belonging to SC or ST communities
• Students pursuing B.Sc will be given an amount of Rs. 12,000/- in the first year and Rs. 18,000/- in the second year and Rs. 24,000/- in the third year.
• Then the scholarship amount will be given in 2 times to the M.Sc degree holders.
• Students who have secured 90% marks in the previous year’s exam will be given their first scholarship preference.

KSCSTE Pratibha Scholarship Selection Process

• Shortlisting of students is done through preliminary examination
• A provisional rank list is made for the same
• The rank list is prepared taking into consideration the performance in the datasheet, Higher Secondary Marks and Preliminary Examination.
• The scholarship is provided to the top 100 (10% reservation for SC/ST)

Terms and Conditions: Prathibha Scholarship

• The scholarship is awarded for studies in Basic/Natural Sciences.
• Candidates who have availed Pratibha scholarship for all the 3 years of undergraduate courses and degree courses with a minimum of 75% marks are eligible to continue the scholarship for a postgraduate course.
• Eight meritorious scholars (two scholars in each discipline – biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics) are eligible to be considered for summer programs at IISER-Trivandrum.
• Then the selection of meritorious scholars for the summer programs is subject to the norms of IISER-Trivandrum.
• The scheme ensures at least 50% selection for girl students.
• 10% of the selection is reserved for SC/ST students.
• The scholarship is allotted primarily based on the subject chosen for the degree course with a weightage of 30% for Mathematical Sciences, 40% for Physical Sciences and 30% for Life Sciences.
• In the triple-main course, students are ranked in all three subject areas and selected based on their top-ranking position.

• आठ मेधावी विद्वान (प्रत्येक विषय में दो विद्वान – जीव विज्ञान, रसायन विज्ञान, गणित और भौतिकी) IISER-त्रिवेंद्रम में ग्रीष्मकालीन कार्यक्रमों के लिए विचार किए जाने के पात्र हैं।
• ग्रीष्मकालीन कार्यक्रमों के लिए मेधावी विद्वानों का चयन IISER-त्रिवेंद्रम के मानदंडों के अधीन है।
• यह योजना छात्राओं के लिए कम से कम 50% चयन सुनिश्चित करती है।
• चयन का 10% अनुसूचित जाति / अनुसूचित जनजाति के छात्रों के लिए आरक्षित है।

Beneficiary Limit: Prathibha Scholarship

Scholarships will award or awarded to students only to the extent that is listed in the beneficiary limit number for the students. Also, every year, the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment offers 100 scholarships to eligible beneficiaries. Obviously, about 100 students will be able to get the scholarship.

Minimum Marks Cut Off: Prathibha Scholarship

It is mandatory for the students to obtain at least the minimum cut-off marks in the previous or previous year’s examination in order to select as eligible beneficiaries. The marks scored by the student in the previous year’s examination will also take into consideration while making the selection. Students will need to score at least 90% marks in the previous year’s exam.
