Prerana Scholarship: Prerana Scholarship is a post-matric scholarship portal implemented by the ST & SC Development and Minorities & Other Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Odisha. Launched with the main objective of giving financial assistance to the economically weaker students of the state, Prerna aims to ease the processes related to scholarship applications and the timely disbursement of scholarship amounts into the bank account of eligible students.

Prerana Scholarship – List of Scholarships

Prerana, an e-scholarship portal, hosts a few scholarship schemes for students studying at the post-matriculation level. These students belong to the ST, SC, OBC, SEBC, and economically backward classes of Odisha. Prerana Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria

The post-matric scholarship listed on Prerana can be applied by candidates belonging to the state of Odisha. Furthermore, a major component in the eligibility criteria is that the candidates must have studied at the post-matriculation level in any of the courses mentioned under Groups I, II, III, and IV.

• Group I: Undergraduate/Postgraduate level courses in Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, and Veterinary. Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Courses, PG Diploma Courses in Management & Medicine, Accountancy Courses M.Phil., Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Programs (D.Litt, D.Sc., etc.), LL.M.
• Group II: Undergraduate/Postgraduate courses leading to a degree, and diploma certification areas like pharmacy, nursing, paramedical, LLB, mass communication, hotel management, interior decoration, etc. PG courses like MA, MSc, M.Com., M.Ed., M.Pharma, etc.

Detailed Eligibility for Prerana Scholarships

Scholarship Name	Eligibility Conditions
Post-matric Scholarship for SC /ST	The applicant’s annual family income must not exceed INR 2.5 Lakh. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha. The applicant must be continuing his/her post-matriculation studies in any of the courses mentioned under Groups I, II, III & IV. The applicant must be studying in a government or government-recognized private institution.
Post-matric Scholarship for OBC/SEBC	The annual family income of the applicant must not be more than INR 1 Lakh. The applicant must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous exam. The candidate must be a permanent resident of Odisha. The applicant must be continuing his/her post-matriculation studies in any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV. The applicant must be studying in a government or private institution.
Post-matric Scholarship for EBC	The annual family income of the applicant from all sources must not exceed INR 1 Lakh. The applicant must be continuing his/her higher studies from a government institution only. The candidate must be pursuing any of the courses mentioned under Groups I, II, III & IV. This scholarship scheme is only applicable to the EBC of the General category.

Prerana Scholarship – Application Process

Candidates willing to avail Prerna Scholarship can apply for the scholarship online only. Earlier, applications were accepted through Prerna Portal. However, from 2020-21 onwards, applications can be made through the dedicated scholarship portal of the Government of Odisha called the State Scholarship Portal. A detailed description of how to apply for these scholarships is given below.

• Visit the official website of the State Scholarship Portal.
• Click on the ‘Registration’ button to register on the Portal (if you are a new user), or log in using the ‘Login’ button.
• Enter the Aadhaar number while registering and proceed. Once you register successfully, you will get your User ID and Password to log in on your registered mobile number and email.
• Log in using your User ID and Password. The application form will open.
• Fill in all the required details in the application form and click on the ‘Save as a Draft button to save the draft and then click on the ‘Next’ button to proceed further. Upload all supporting documents.

• A preview of your completed application will appear. Please check it and download it. Also, take a printout of the application form.

Prerana Scholarship – Key Documents

Candidates willing to apply for the Prerana scholarship have to keep scanned copies of some documents with them. These documents are uploaded by the applicants while filling out the scholarship form online. Check below the list of documents to be uploaded:

Prerana Scholarship – Terms and Conditions

What is the amount of the Prerana Scholarship?
This scholarship provides a 100% course fee for general courses. While the scholarship amount is Rs. 28,500/- will be provided for technical like a degree or diploma courses.

Is Prerna and State Scholarship the same?
No. Only those students can apply who are the domicile of Odisha. This is a scholarship for economically backward class students belonging to the state of Odisha

Can the general category get a scholarship?
As a part of this education system, the state government also runs several scholarship schemes for the welfare of its domicile students. These schemes are available for SC, ST, OBC, minority, and general category students.

What is the percentage required for a scholarship?
Students admitted to technical/professional courses without any competitive examination will also be eligible for the scholarship. However, such students should not have scored less than 50% marks at the higher secondary/graduation level.
