Eligibility
For Undergraduate (UG):
- Any AICTE-approved institution of the relevant year may accept the female candidate for lateral entrance into either the first or second year of a degree-level programme.
- A household may only have up to two eligible girl children.
- During the current fiscal year, a family’s total annual income should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh. Included must be a current income certificate from the State or UT government.
For Diploma Students:
- Any AICTE-approved institution of the relevant year may accept the female candidate for lateral entrance into either the first or second year of a diploma-level programme.
- A family may only have a maximum of two eligible females.
- During the current fiscal year, a family’s total annual income should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh. Included must be a current income certificate from the State or UT government.

Documents
In order to properly register for the scholarship, students must submit scanned copies of all required documents when registering for the AICTE Pragati Scholarship initiative. If any relevant documents are not submitted by the deadline, the application will be rejected.
Note: There will be no further grant available to cover living expenses, medical expenses, etc.

Pragati Scholarship Selection Procedure
Undergraduate (UG): Only those who pass the qualifying test and are admitted into a Technical Degree programme at any AICTE-approved institution will be considered for the Pragati Scholarship. This covers lateral entry students who enrol in the programme solely on the basis of their percentage of marks from the 10+2/equivalent exam and begin in either the first or second year.
Diploma: AICTE-approved institutions may offer the Technical Diploma programme in either First Year or Second Year (through lateral entry only), with candidates chosen only on the basis of merit based on their percentage of marks in the 10th or equivalent examination.
Pragati Scholarship Salient Features
Benefits that students who are chosen for the Pragati Scholarship programme will receive are listed below:
- ₹30,000 year or the full cost of tuition, whichever is lower.
- ₹2,000 every month as incidentals for a ten-month period.
- Students who need reimbursement for costs incurred for books, computers, equipment, competitive exam fees, cars, certification, etc., can choose to use this service.
- Scholarships are offered at the 50% level for each degree or diploma.
- In the event that a suitable applicant is not available for any of the degree- or diploma-level programmes, it is also transferable

Terms and Conditions
- If students did not move on to the following level or class, they would forfeit their scholarship.
- Scholarship recipients will receive an additional year of study funding through the National Scholarship Portal upon renewal. To apply, students must submit a letter from the Head of the Institution together with their passing certificate or marksheet.
- There shouldn’t be a more than two-year gap between the year of passing the qualifying exam and the diploma programme admission session.
- We will summarily reject incomplete applications. Only validated online applications will be considered for the scholarship.
- A candidate who failed or dropped out in a later year will not be eligible to receive the scholarship.
- The multiplicative factor for translating Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to % is 9.5, meaning that CGPA X 9.5 will yield the percentage.
- If the marksheet shows both the CGPA and the total marks, the percentage will be computed using the total marks.
Renewal Process
- When the National Scholarship Portal receives a renewal request, the Pragati Scholarship will be extended for a further year of study. To apply, submit your marksheet or passing certificate along with a letter from the institution’s head.
- The student would lose the scholarship if they were not advanced to the next class or level.
